Description

For “Allotropic Beauty, or the Possibility of Forms,” L’Atelier Véron art gallery is teaming up with HEY! Modern Art & Pop Culture to show off some recent stuff by sculptor Paul Toupet. "Absorbed by my art, which I cannot stop pursuing, I see a small people emerging from life to invade my own. As this continuous flow unfolds, I am amazed by the transformative power of the materials I love to work with. This infinite potential for transformation acts as an exciting promise that is impossible to fulfill. In this quest, fear is pushed aside and hope generates itself. My sculptures are this message" - Paul Toupet, 2025. "Paul Toupet's characters seem to perceive the invisible, a sacred reality that manifests itself only in rituals and children's games." - Hélène Bouillon, chief curator at the LOUVRE PARIS museum, co-curator of the exhibition Gothiques (Louvre-Lens, September 2025 - January 2026). “This art, which yields nothing to external pressures, works to represent an imaginary system where an ideal of peace prevails. The means employed—an aesthetic of innocence and the transformative function of the mask—resolve conflict and call for resistance.” - Anne Richard, founder of HEY! MODERN ART & POP CULTURE. “Influenced by non-Western cultures, these works evoke protective spirits, bearers of gentleness, mysticism, and a fragile form of hope. Something within us awakens—an intuitive and faithful memory recalling the imagination as a healer of reality.” - Chih-Chia Chung, Head of International Development at the MUSEE DU QUAI BRANLY – JACQUES CHIRAC. "Paul Toupet follows in the footsteps of surrealist epic poetry, not as a direct heir, but as an artist exploring a territory where dreams, the irrational, and the marvelous interact with a contemporary reality nourished by pop culture. From this alchemy arise hybrid and liminal figures with an almost sacred dimension. " - Martine Lusardy, director of the MUSEE DE LA HALLE SAINT PIERRE (Paris).
