Exhibition from 25 March to 2 August 2019 "The creation of HEY! magazine in 2010 was an opportunity for Halle Saint Pierre to broaden its artistic project by hosting a series of exhibitions of "pop outsiders", the myriad contemporary figurative movements revealed to the French public by HEY! No other venue could have imagined and implemented this bold synthesis of the alternative art scene. From the seditious figures of lowbrow art nourished by the iconography of popular media to the phantasmagorias of pop surrealism rediscovering the heritage of the great pictorial traditions, from street art activists to tattooing, from the individual and solitary escapes of art brut to the refined and libertarian expressions of a "wild eye", the artistic margins were presented here in all their diversity and complexity. Three exhibitions - 2011, 2013 and 2015 - don't seem to have been enough to show the breadth of genres and families that make up this other art scene. So it's with the same passion that we join forces once again to give a geographical and historical account of it. In the company of the thirty or so artists gathered here, we'll be able to experience the liberating scope of their works, which are such an open door to our imaginary space, that irreducible in each of us."
