Mario Maplé Born in 1992. Mexico. Lives and works between Laredo, Texas (USA) and Guadalajara, Jalisco (Mexico). He studied visual arts at the University of Guadalajara (Mexico) and in Barcelona. Affiliated with the American Lowbrow artistic movement, Mario Maplé uses drawing, sculpture and ceramics indiscriminately to formulate his art. The artist questions the reality of the American dream, and its fantasized impact on the rest of the world.  "In MIRAGE, I explore the possibility of beauty as an alternative construct, transformed into a malleable material; for me, it is a parallel to the visual pleasure of the process of formulating imagery, conditioned by, among others, the cartoon or film industries. My drawing explores the precise moment when one becomes something else." The series presented here was specially created for this Paris exhibition. Supported by HEY! modern art & pop culture magazine, the artist got his first European publication in 2017.  His work has entered the collections of the IAGO Museum (Oaxaca, Mexico) and also part of collections in the United States, Europe and South America.
