In Paris in 2014, "Tatoueurs, Tatoués" welcomed over 750,000 visitors, presenting for the first time in the world the sum total of a global body of knowledge hitherto fragmented and unobserved from an artistic point of view in an institutional setting. This unprecedented success has prompted a world tour of the exhibition, now scheduled to run until 2026. On the other hand, with a view to enriching its collections and enhancing the art and practice of tattooing, the musée du quai Branly-Jacques Chirac has been working since 2015 to promote and preserve the art of tattooing in terms of its contemporary creation. Anne Richard is in charge of curating the tour, as well as providing artistic advice and production follow-up for contemporary works by tattoo artists. These pieces may subsequently be acquired for the museum's collections. Each tour date encourages the creation of new works by contemporary tattoo artists.
