HEY! modern art & pop culture Part I

September 2011

Now historical, uniting under the banner of HEY! none other than 64 international artists and 3 private collections – a new kind of collective presented in museums, and which the prescriptive energy since has reinstituted types of presentation form(s). Titled HEY! Modern art & pop culture, the exhibition, designed as a “Cabinet de Curiosité” of the twenty-first century, wanted to be an audacious and expansive synthesis of the alternative art scene. From the seditious icons of lowbrow art nourished by pop media iconography to the pop-realist phantasmagorias rediscovering the heirloom of the great pictorial traditions, from the rock poster activists to the art of tattooing, from the individual and lonely escapes of raw art to the refined and libertarian expressions of a wild eye, the artistic margins were presented in their diversity and complexity. This publication is the exact recall of the artworks presented in the exhibition.
